When I first saw the above ad back in mid-2000, it was an immediate turn-off because I wasn't about to spend $25 per month for hosting and had no desires to visit the Bahamas.  "Ready to Take Order" plug-in sites -- Whoopy doo!  I never visited the site initially.  Here's my story...

Seven years ago, I purchased my first domain name and moved to my first paid hosting company.  At first, I was reluctant because I wasn't making any money on the internet and didn't want to waste any paying for a host.

When I decided it was time to get my own domain, I looked for the cheapest deals around and I didn't want to pay any setup feeseither.  My first host charged $9.95 per month for 10 megs.  That was was more than enough back then.

There were a lot more features needed that I wasn't aware of at the time, but soon realized as I became more experienced.  I didn't have access to CGI (even if you think you won't need it -- YOU WILL!).  I only had one email address and no autoresponders.  The only way I had to monitor traffic were those useless counter scripts.  There was no user-friendly control panel, but fortunately, I was comfortable using FTP software to upload my pages.

Turns out their server was also really slow or down on average, 3 to 4 hours per week.  If you're doing well, you know how many sales can be missed in that timeframe!  I finally reached the point where I was no longer satisfied with their service and support was practically nil. It was time for me to move on!

I had a similar experience with my next host, whom I chose because they too, charged only $9.95 (with no setup fee) and also offered CGI access!  Actually, everything was going well with this company.  The only problem I had was I actually ended up using the full 10 megs of space provided.

By then, I had income coming in so it was time to invest a little more into one of those "full-blown" sites, and everything that came with it. I was prepared to go as high as $19.95 per month (hey, I'm a cheapo)!

While shopping around, I came upon the above ad for Host4Profit again and decided to look further into their offer.  To be quite honest, the motivating factor for me was the $10 referral.  That would put my hosting fee at $14.95 per month if I could refer just one person!  Not bad -- that's in my price range!
