Are You Tracking Your Advertisements?

Ok, so you’re posting ads all over the Internet at places like Craigslist, USFreeAds, forums, ezines, safelists, etc. Do you know which ones are pulling in the visitors for you? I thought not. Tracking your ads is a very important part of Internet Marketing. By doing so, you know which ads are working as well as which ad sources. This is especially important when you are paying for ad space.

It can be difficult at best to track different resources for the site you are promoting unless you create several different links to monitor. Well I have a recommendation for you. The program I use is called TrackThatAd.

By far, I believe TrackThatAd is the best in its league. It lets you create tracking campaigns for each URL you want to monitor. With each campaign, you can create sub-campaign. it’s just a matter of adding a special code of your choice at the end of the link. Let me give you an example:

I created a campaign to promote the Spider Web Marketing System. My basic TrackThatAd URL is: http://trackthatad.com/?i=147259/

For this post, I’m using http://trackthatad.com/?i=147259/blog

The “blog” code I added on the end lets me know that you clicked on the URL in this blog post. You can have as many sub-campaigns as you want. Now suppose I created an article about the Spider Web Marketing System, made a post in a forum or left a comment on another blog mentioning the system. I would use the following sub-campaigns to track my visitors:

Of course I would use the specific names of the article directory, forum and blog to know exactly where my visitors came from. Also, you don’t have to use the default URL provided. Other optional URLs given are:

http://2-b.us/?i=147259/
http://show–me.com/?i=147259/
http://a–b–c.com/?i=147259/
http://y–e–s.com/?i=147259/
http://w–o–w.com/?i=147259/
http://just-visit.us/?i=147259/
http://here-is-more.info/?i=147259/
http://follow4more.info/?i=147259/
http://click-here-4.info/?i=147259/

When you log in to your stats page, all you have to do is click on the campaign name you created and it will show every location your visitors came from. When you click on the individual locations, it will provide the URL or IP address, date and time for each click as
well.

I LOVE this program! It’s free but you should be aware that there is a slight delay before actually going to the page you’re promoting with the free version. You can upgrade to pro for a small yearly fee to eliminate the delay and in my opinion, it is well worth it.

I hope you find this tool helpful in your online marketing efforts.

If you want to advertise in ezines, then my advise is to take care what ad tracker you use. A lot of them have their domain names BLACKLISTED and your ad will be blocked by spam filters.

By the way, TrackThatAd is blacklisted too. You can see here: http://lookup.uribl.com/?domain=trackthatad.com

Take care!

OMG!! I just checked the link and you’re absolutely correct! That’s dissapointing to know. I’m going to let the webmaster of TrackThatAd know so he can take action.

Do so … but I doubt he can succeed to remove his domain name from the blacklists. Even if he succeed … as long as he cannot control what kind of messages his users are sending, there will always be someone who will yell SPAAAAM, and then those guys will blacklist again the domain name without any prior notification.

I don’t know any whitelisted ad tracker. Clickaudit and others are all blacklisted.
